The Homemade Pickles Experiment

I’m not sure what conjured up memories of my being forced to help my grandmother with canning fig preserves during the summer but I got the bug to do some canning. I wasn’t ready to deal with fruits so with the plethora of fresh produce I decided to deal with gherkins (baby)cucumbers which are crunchier  and smaller than your average cucumber and since this was my first time I decided to do two small jars.

I(of course) went to see what my favorite guru on all things home, Martha Stewart, had to say and of course she had recipe which also included tips for pickling beets and carrots all with the basic brine you’ll be using for the pickles.
